Board of Christian Outreach & Mission

The purpose of the Board of Christian Outreach & Mission is to manage the mission pledge income & special offerings on behalf of the congregation & to keep the congregation informed about the missions we support. This is done through our newsletter articles & monthly mission moments.

50% of the pledge income is sent to the NHUCC to be used as they see fit.

Gifts to the NHUCC go to Our Churches Wider Mission. 33% stays here in the NH churches. 22% goes to other ministries in NH. 19% goes to ministries in the US & 20% goes to global ministries. OCWM sent $25,000 to Katrina relief the first week after the hurricane. The goal of OCWM is to send $1 million for Katrina relief. It has sent aid to the Philippines to help with mudslide relief & to help with recovery from the tornadoes in the mid-west. Pakistan & Kashmir received aid after the earthquakes. Funds were sent to Niger to help with hunger relief.

In addition to your pledge gifts, at Thanksgiving we gave baskets to 16 families & at Christmas we gave gifts to 15 children through Project Angel Tree.

We continue to collect eyeglasses that are given to the Lions Club. Once or twice a year the glasses are taken by local optometrists to impoverished countries & given to people there to help them with vision problems.

On March 18th we had the first of what we hope are monthly mission workdays. 5 people went to Grace House in Worcester to help with repairs needed to get the second floor ready for women coming out of prison to stay there. We pulled up carpet & kitchen tiles & moved quite a few boxes to the basement for storage. These boxes contained items that will be given to the women when they move out to be in their own homes. We have ideas for several other workdays & hope to get them scheduled soon.

We appreciate any suggestions you may have concerning the mission funds. We would like to hear more of your ideas. Please feel free to attend our meetings on the 3rd Thurs. of each month at 7:00pm in the Bob Cook Conference room.
