With your help…………………............
Thanks to your help the Board of Christian Outlook and Mission was able to add gifts of $200.00 to the Friendship Center in Derry and $200 to the YWCA Crisis Center to our regular contributions.  We also agreed to purchase a $50 ad in the Community Caregivers Spring Fling program.  Usual contributions were sent to the Sonshine Soup Kitchen ($100), Vintage Grace ($125), the Food Pantry ($100), Community Caregivers ($100), and the Upper Room ($100).  What a joy!

One Great Hour of Sharing.................
Daily we see and hear reports of war and disaster, as well as effects of poverty and disease.  There are many ways to respond to these reports from volunteering to contributing time or money.

Through the support generated by One Great Hour of Sharing, the United Church of Christ is able not only to respond to disasters but also to help alleviate the effects of poverty. Requests for disaster help come in on an average of every 2.5 days.  UCC also works to improve infrastructures in areas throughout the world.  Gifts to One Great Hour of Sharing support the development of schools, wells, improved health care, and cottage industries.  Hope for a better life is generated as a result.

A Safe PlaceElaine from A Safe Place has provided a “Wish List” for helping them.  As you may already know,  A Safe Place provides emergency shelter and support services for people in abusive relationships.  Any item listed, small or large, will be a huge help to them.    The list is posted on the bulletin board near the church office.  Please direct any questions to Shea Morgan (in the office) or a BOCOM Member.

Our donations this month were: $200 to The Upper Room, and $200 to the Derry Timberwolves (Special Olympics).

In April, we will focus on the One Great Hour of Sharing.  Our donations will support domestic and international ministries for disasters through the United Church of Christ in Missions.

February 2007 Newsletter

Caring for others is what Jesus told us to do, and
First Parish Church continues to care for others.

At Christmas, we gave presents to 37 children, 3 were members of a FPC family. One younger member of our church family gave her Christmas money to buy gifts for others. Jim Stewart, the owner of Premier Produce here in Derry, donated Christmas dinner for 5 families of our choosing. These were given to families of the children we bought gifts for. Along with all this you gave $882 to The Christmas Fund, to help retired clergy. All we can say is THANK YOU!!

Please see the thank you notes on the Mission Table.:  At our January meeting Lucy told us that two youth from one of the families we gave gifts to came to church to be part of our youth program. Thank you, God, for this opportunity.

A Safe Place:  We hope you enjoyed the “Mission Moment” by Elaine from A Safe Place. We gave $200 to help them with their programs.

New Orleans Mission Trip:  We also gave $500 to the New Orleans mission trip to be used to help defray the cost or to be donated to a project in New Orleans.

Potter’s Bowl:  Community Caregivers is having their Potter’s Bowl fundraiser and we gave them $200 towards i
