How many items can I bring?
You may bring up to five items per person.

How much will it cost?
Each item is evaluated for $5.00.

Is there anything I should not bring?
No, feel free to bring coins, jewelry, stamps, and any sort of antique items.

What about large or fragile items?
Please bring good quality photographs instead of large or fragile items. Or, for example, bring a sample place setting instead of your full set of china.

Can I get a written appraisal for insurance purposes?
No, appraisals are verbal only.

Heritage Day at First Parish Church

Curious about the value of that favorite piece in your china cabinet or that odd item from a distant relative? Now's your chance to find out what they're worth, and to have a little fun besides.

Our Heritage Day 2008 features:

  • Learn the worth of your forgotten treasures with Antique and Coin Appraisals from expert Donna Welch and From Out of the Woods Antiques Center, for just $5 an item.
     
  • Watch and learn from a Highland Games Exposition, then try contests to test your own skill.
     
  • Get an extensive Guided Tour of First Parish Church, inside and out.
     
  • Buy Perennials, Herbs, Honey, and other Local Bounty from Tulip Tree Farms (Hampstead).
     
  • Experience Forest Hill Cemetery with photographic documentarian Dorothy Goldman.
     
  • Have historic fun with Crafts and Games for Kids led by the Met Children's Museum and Nutfield Cooperative School.
     
  • Enjoy Irish Step Dancing performances by the Cunniffe Academy of Irish Dance, at 3:00 and 4:00 pm.
     
  • Learn about the Upper VIllage Hall and the effort to save it with presentations and an outside tour by the folks of the Save the Upper Village Hall Committee.
     
  • Learn about the East Derry Registered Historic District and take a self-guided tour.
     
  • Watch demonstrations by Nutfield Pottery's Mike Gibbons and other local artisans, and purchase some of their beautiful work for yourself.
     
  • Share pieces of our local past with Derry Town Historian RIck Holmes and the Derry History Museum.
     
  • Visit historic Taylor LIbrary (website) and enjoy an Open House and refreshments.
     
  • Enjoy historically-delicious Refreshments and Lunch by Robin Summey and crew throughout the event, including a fresh-barbecued chicken meal, and samples of treats that Derry's early settlers might have enjoyed.
     
  • Historic Items and Mementos — acquire some history for yourself: choose from handcrafted local pottery, intriguing books and more from the Derry History Museum, and some unique FPC mementos to help you remember the day.
